Let your soles touch the earth and let the earth touch your soul Namaqua Camino
Namaqualand is an arid region in the north-western part of South Africa. It covers over 1,000 kilometres. Most of the Namaqua Camino walks will take you on an inland route to the Atlantic Ocean coastline. Except for one, all the walks are assisted slack-pack hikes which means that you walk with a light daypack while your tent and Namaqua Camino bags are safely transported to the next overnight camp. The dates have been selected specifically during a time of the year when the weather is supposed to be temperate but as we all know, Mother Nature is fickle and extreme weather (very hot, cold or rainy) might be experienced during this time. Facilities in the overnight camps are basic but we do supply hot showers with rationed water. Bucket toilets are available at the overnight camps and along the route. Water is rationed to 5 litres per person per day for personal use. Drinking water, however, is always available in the camp and along the daily stages. You need to be as walking fit as possible for all the walks. The more prepared you are, the more enjoyable your excursion will be! The Namaqua Camino 5-day - 100 km starting inland at Wallekraal, this route then takes you via Sarrisam Farm, to the coastal section of the Namaqua National Park. The time spent at the coast are spectacular walks with ample time to enjoy the scenic unspoilt Namaqualand coastline. The Wild West Coast 5-day - 100 km route follows a remote and scenic path from Hondeklipbaai to Kleinzee. This route traverses to an almost pristine and unspoiled coastline as well as some inland excursions that very few hikers have had the privilege to experience before now. The Kamiesberg Adventure 6-day - 106 km this new route explore the Kamiesberg mountain range's untouched beauty. Experience stunning scenery, rich culture, and warm hospitality in this picturesque destination. The Namaqua Camino 10-day - 260 km is a 10-day - 260 km supported slackpack hike through the distinctive and diverse Namaqualand countryside. It is a circular walk departing from the quaint seaside village of Hondeklip Bay. This spectacular route will take you over arid plains, through a unique succulent biome and along the unspoilt Atlantic coast of the Namaqua National Park.
